De Marokkaanse economie
december 3rd, 2006De Marokkaanse economie kent dezelfde problemen als die van de meeste Derde Wereldlanden: een snel groeiende bevolking, gebrek aan eigen kapitaal, en voor de industriële ontwikkeling te kleine binnenlandse markt, gebrek aan gekwalificeerde arbeidskrachten en afhankelijkheid van enkele exportproducten ( fosfaat en landbouwproducten ).Van alle Maghreb-landen is Marokko het armst. De afhankelijkheid van buitenlands kapitaal is groot van staatsschulden zijn enorm (in 1994 in totaal US $22,5 miljard).
De import was in 1993 bijna 50% groter dan de export (in 1974 nog ruim 10% ) Het bruto nationaal inkomen (bnp) per hoofd van bevolking bedroeg in 1994 $1150. De werkloosheid , vooral onder de jongeren, is groot . Het toerisme wordt een steeds belangrijkere bron van inkomsten; het draagt voor ca. 11% bij in de deviezeninkomsten van Marokko en geeft 5 % aan de bevolking. Sinds 1983 worden de door de staat beheerst bedrijfstakken voor een deel geprivatiseerd. Landbouw, bosbouw, veehouderij, visserij De landbouw is de belangrijkste sector in de economie waarin 36% van de beroepsbevolking werk vindt ,en die in 1992 15% van het bnp uitmaakte. Onvoldoende en onregelmatige regenval veroorzaakten grote fluctuaties in de jaarlijkse oogst. Ongeveer 34 miljoen ha is in cultuur gebracht en 25% daarvan is akkerbouwgrond. Ondanks een snelle uitbreiding van geïrriteerd land is slechts 1 miljoen ha geïrriteerd. In de afgelopen jaren is de aanhoudende droogte het belangrijkste probleem geweest en heeft samen met een snelle bevolkingsgroei en de beperkte toegang tot de EU-markt voor een stagnatie van de productie per hoofd gezorgd. Van de akkerbouwgronden behoort ca. 6 miljoen ha tot de traditionele sector en ca. 1miljoen ha tot de zgn. moderne sector, die 25% van de totale oogst levert. Naast granen is de verbouw van citrusvruchten, tomaten en aardappelen van belang . De verbouw van suikerbieten heeft een spectaculaire groei doormaakt. Bosbouw is voor bijna 100% een staatsaangelegenheid. De totale oppervlakte aan bos bedroeg in 1994 ca. 5 miljoen ha, 12% van het totale landoppervlak.
